Temperment

I was wondering - do all of your alls BW arg. tegus have an adolescent stage? I mean mine is growing like a weed, seems to be about 2-2.5 ft. He he tame but has a very high feeding response (making it difficult not to get bit) and he gets whippy/frisky when out. Hasnt chilled in a while. Is this normal?

Mine seems to be in this adolescent stage as well. He's about 25-30" total length and about 12" or so snout to vent. He's growing like mad and eating like crazy. He doesn't ever whip his tail, but then again he's free-roam in my bed room so I'm always around him. His feeding response has gotten a little excessive though. As soon as he sees his plate coming down he'll run and often jump/lunge at it to get the food. I'm trying to teach him that he doesn't get the food until the plate is on the floor. So far I've managed not to get bit, but I do worry that he might miss the plate and hit my hand one of these times! I'm hoping as he ages he'll calm down some.
