Common house spiders as food

BunnyLai Apr 02, 2005 07:36 AM

Is it okay to feed my cham a variety of common house spiders? I've seen two different kinds of plump little white and brown spiders this morning of the sort you normally see in or around the house. One was outside, one was inside. Would it have been okay to collect these and give them to my three month old veiled?

And on our patio in the corners of the ceilings there are the spiders that have the typical spider shape - like the same shape as black widows, but these are beige or brown. Would these be okay?

Thanks.

I would Identify the type of spiders b4 you feed them. You dont want to feed your cham a brown recluese.I wouldnt think that they would be good.and ask your self this question. Is you cham worth the risk of feeding a potentially dangerous insect? You can get silkworms and butterworms if you want a variety. I have taken a few of the moths that are flying around this year, even that is risky.I am no expert, just going by what i have read on these forumns. Dave

The house and other garden spiders are fine, many chams love spiders. I'd get the brown ones identified first just in case YOU need to deal with them. The spider would only be dangerous to your cham if it actually bit it (unlikely).
