Think of a box. Decide which edges you want to be showing and which edges you want hidden.
Get wood.
Cut wood into appropriate dimensions.
Stain/ varnish wood as you deisre (definitely varnish; polyurethane is cheaper and cures faster; oil-based is more durable and would likely stand up to your monitor better)
Let this cure a week or two, if oil-based
Dry fit pieces so you can drill pilot holes (deck screws go in fast, hold tight, and the exterior ones will stand up to the humidity)
Drill pilot holes
Slather Gorilla Glue onto edges that will be in contact with other pieces of wood.
Assemble.
Decorate with whatever rocks, substrate, etc you are planning on using.
Go get glass and tracks for the front door to fit your dimensions.
Attach tracks
Insert glass.
Test out and make sure your temps and humidity remain where you want them; adjust as needed.
Insert monitor.
