I have been watching my Salmon Pastels and my normal Salmons change colors and have come up with some understandings. I would love to hear what everyone else thinks on this subject.

There is a band or a ribbon of black/blue speckles that streams down the sides of my Salmon Pastels. I have noticed that when that band starts diminishing and narrows the color of the animal gets more pronounced as well.

I believe that band to be the actual pigment for the animals skin. I have some of the normal pastels that actually were gray color and as that color diffused through the body and dissapeared the reds showed up. Has anyone else ever noticed this in their animals? Thanks Andy

I have seen Salmons that can vary on almost a daily basis with respect to the grey coloration you refered to. I've seen a few Salmons that can have a very "blue-grey" look on their head that can completely dissapear at times -revealing a bright/lghter head coloration. Do you see the speckled/blue-grey sides completely disappearing on your animals or does it seem to change back and forth over time?

I have seen the Salmons you refer to, but the Salmons I have are not that type. I think all boas have a lighter look and a darker look at times and when basking in heat etc...But the color I was showing is pigment that is dispersing into the skin and eventually dissapears. I have seen Salmons with speckles that never go away. If you look at my boas, they are as clean as can be. That clean look is due to the Female being a Pastel and clean...meaning a reduction in Black overall. The Salmon being naturally void of most black pigment brings out even more of a red clean look when bred to a Pastel. I would say when you see boas with that type of concentration of color down through the sides, as neonates you can bet that more color is on the way. For me that is what I have been seeing. Andy

I am saving as fast as I can..LOL They look great, I always love looking at pics of your hypos, Even the Normal pastels, if you can call them normal are beautiful. Keep posting them, everytime work is stressful, I log on and take a peek at anything you have posted. Thanks..
