Over two months without eating?

bmulcahy Apr 02, 2005 12:25 PM

I have a male in my class that hasn't eaten now for over two months. I know they can go a long time without eating, but I just don't like that he doesn't eat. The other five snakes in my class eat every week without fail. I have switched the color of mice and size. I mated him twice. He is still very active - Does he need more loving??? Should I throw him in with another female? I have one just coming off her spring shed(post below)and I can put them togeter. The only thing I want to stay away from is live feedings and I will try that if I become desperate. All thoughts would be appreciated!

thanks!

Brian

One of mine once went for over six months without eating (a house move "upset" him). As long as yours isn't losing weight and you can see no other signs of illness, two months is fine and very typical for an adult male Corn at this time of year.

You could mate him again, but the act itself won't restore his appetite. He'll just start eating again when the mating instinct fades and he realises that he's hungry. Could be another couple of months yet...

My male amel wont hold still or eat anything for the next few months.Corny's been that way since he was around 2 years old.He will loose a few grams and get some loose skin but then he starts feeding and gains it all back.

I just had a 3 year old male go 3 months without eating and now he's eaten twice within 6 days. No big deal.
