Whistling noise from cresteds??

bblack Apr 02, 2005 03:29 PM

I have some cresteds that are making whistling noises..I keep them all at room temp 65-70 degrees..I thought cresteds do great at room temp..and they don't need the extra heat. Anyone else run into this?

Thanks,
Bill

Alot of cresteds will vocalize when kept in groups of two or more. Alot of clicks and whistles! It has nothing to do with husbandry issues, it's completely normal. Unless there is mucous or fluid coming out of the cresteds mouth and/or nose, which could be a respitory infection. If they look healthy then just kill the lights and hear them talk!

Usually, it's when the female is pregnant or has been ''fertilized''. It's her own way of saying no, not tonight ...

With my grandis, when the male wants to procreate, it gets noisy !

lol yes that is exactly how it is with my geckos. Also virgin female cresteds seem to be pretty vocal.

I'm sorry I did not mention that the whistling noises come when I'm holding her not when she is in her cage. She will be walking on my arm and I can her her breathing is whistling..

Thanks,
Bill

That is normal too. My proven females often do that, and they have done it for as long as I have had them. It is a very faint whistling. Breeding is not the only time they make noise, just the most common time that they vocalize.
