ambiant temp or floor temp?

MAtNga Jul 09, 2003 09:33 PM

hi guys i have been wondering about this

i have a 25 x 16 x 16 enclousre and i have 3 thermometers along the back wall which read 82 79 75

now i am using an UTH that is maybe 5 inches in front of the 82 reading thermometer.the area around the UTH (also where i have the warm hid is 88-90 on the floor and maybe 84 in an area about 8 inches square

is this ideal or should the ambiant temp be 88-90 because to do that would have to raise the hide temp and surounding area by at least 8 degrees making neear 100°F near the hide and we all know thats way to hot

so what do you guys think is more important ambaint temps or floor temps

i think floor temps as long as the rest of the cage falls within the specified range of the " cool side" in other words if it is no less than 75°F

for instance if the heater was smack dab in the middle and the middle was 88-90 floor temp and either end was no less than 75.

i think alot of people are gettng confused and thinking one whole side of the tank should be 88-90 which with an UTH and a cage as deep as mine is not possable

what is your thoughts

All that matter is the floor temp. because leos are terrestrial(sp?). But like you said, the ambient temp shouldnt be too low.

So the floor temp is supposed to be 88-90 not the ambient?

as long as the floor temp is in range and the air temp never gets much below 70 or so they will thrive belly heat is the magic word -Geeboo
