Timors are impressive pythons to keep, but I wouldn't be comfortable recommending them to lesser experienced python keepers. We keep our Timors in 4 foot long Vision Cages. Each has a basking spot of 88-90 and the cooler end falls to ambient room temps or about 78-82. A hide box is an absolute must for this species. They are very nippy and tend to strike the glass at any movement and can damage their faces. Humidity must be 60% or better for good sheds. They have a fast metabolism, but are not particularly messy. I feed a large to jumbo rat weekly to bi-weekly. They have the bad reputation of being "sprayers", which means they may deficate and/or urinate on you if you stress them out. I have three that were handled from hatchlings that no longer do this at all, but 2 of my adults still do. Adult size averages about 8-9 feet for females and males at 6-7 feet and much thinnner. A calm Timor is one of the finest captive pythons anywhere. They require some effort and respect on the part of the keeper. Timors are beautiful and interesting, so dedicated keepers will be able to overlook their few annoyances. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone has the breeding quite figured out. This makes them one of the few species that man hasn't completely learned about, which makes them even more fascinating. I hope this helps.

Matt,
Thanks for the great info. I currently keep retics, balls, bloods, and GTPs and I am getting my first Timor tomorrow. Thanks again
Nick
if you don't mind me asking, are you getting a young timor from a clutch or an older individual?

Hey Adam,
I purchased an older male animal from Prehistoric Pets and orginally from Don Hamper. He's is a very tame beautiful animal. I love him.
