soaking beardie food

denise1 Apr 03, 2005 05:53 PM

I purchased some t-Rex juvenile bearded dragon food...the package says to soak in water or fruit juice...my dragon hasn't eaten more than two pieces of it (soaked in water)...and I will not have crickets until teusday...can I soak it in fruit juice, possibly improving the taste or smell so maybe he'll eat it...I know you can't always trust what the manufacturer says, or they would not sell so many heat rocks. If I can soak it in fruit juice, what would be a good fruit juice, I'd assume not any that would have alot of sugar, etc.???Thanks...

I use rep-cal pellets but the same would apply. I got mine started on them by soaking in apple juice. I still do a few times a week as a treat for him. Don't worry, the pellets have all the nutrition your dragon needs, and many out there feed them pellets only without problems. Good luck!

did you feed the dragon food seperately or did you sprinkle the soaked pellets on the veggies as some suggest??

i always mix it in with some romaine lettuce, mustard greens, and sliced carrots or bananas. that way they seem to pick it up with the other stuff. if i feed it to them by itself they wont have anything to do with it....
