I am aware of it Dan, and would really like to study it but haven't found a source. Would you know where I might find it?
Contact Breck at Bibliomania. If he doesn't have it let me know and I'll send you a photocopy. DV
...and a copy is on the way. Thanks for sparking my memory. A friend of mine in Tuscon suggested I read the paper last fall and in looking back at an e-mail, he did lead me to Bibliomania as a source but I never followed through.
For anyone else interested, go here to get it:
William R. Garstka. 1982. Systematics of the mexicana species group of the colubrid genus Lampropeltis, with an hypothesis mimicry.
Do a quick search at the top of the page and it will pop right up. $7.00 plus shipping and I know it is well worth it.
I would love to see a copy of it.
I am always amazed how the genes work in Thayeri. Why are the clutches so variable? Do they rely on this variability for survival in the wild? And what in fact does a leonis phase thayeri mimic? The milksnake phase is obvious.
If I cannot find it could you send me a copy as well Dan???
I will let you know via email......
