Age of Female Sexual Maturation? Need help separating babes...

cherribomb Apr 03, 2005 06:16 PM

Hello,

I currently have 3 rescue babies in the same long tank (came from the same place). They're growing like weeds and are all vigorous eaters (read: complete fatties!)

I read that males mature at around 9months. Is this correct?

Around what age do females mature sexually? As much as I love them, I don't need any more Leos!

I'm unable to sex these ones yet but will probably need to start separating them soon. Strangely unlike my other leos, they seem to enjoy each other's company and seek each other out to sleep/bask together even though there are multiple hides and multiple basking places. Is this common? I'm watching them carefully to make sure there are no fights, aggression, etc.

Any advice on separation/sexual maturation would be gladly appreciated!

I would seperate them now, really. I seperate babies as soon as they can be sexed, which, if you can post the pics here, people like me can do around 6 months.

Unfortunately, they're way too young to sex. Unlike good breeders who wait, I got these 3 poor lil' ones as "few week olds". They're far off being "sexable", which makes it more difficult.

One is a "normal" but very high yellow for a normal & is taking his time gaining 'spots'. One is albino -- looks like she could be the sibling of the "normal", but not sure. The third is darker & definitely has some kind of jungle in him -- he doesn't look related to the rest (and is a total nut job unlike any leo I've ever encountered!)

I'm going to assume if males mature around 9 months, females mature earlier?

Hey,

Either way, do femmes mature sexually around 7-8 months?

Thanks!!

From what I've read, female leopard gecko's are sexually mature at 10 months.
