Do Mangrove's chew as a defense, or is it more likely...

that you would be chewed as a feeding response. As my earlier post states, I just bought my first Mangrove and she seems very reluctant to bite. I got her yesterday and the guy I bought her from threw in a mouse. I didn't want to keep the mouse alive and didn't think that she would take it due to the stress of moving but to my surprise slammed it right away. Today I wanted to let her digest but couldn't resist checking her out a little. I reached in and touched her, she acted just like my JCP does when I go in. I then grabbed my snake stick and started to tail her but didn't want to push it. They are hard snakes to keep on a stick. Anyway, I am probably going to put on some gloves and pick her up but was just wondering what experience you people have had. I would prefer not to get bitten but a nip really won't bother me. I am worried about the chew however and was wondering if in your experience they tend to chew as a defense or strictly when they think they're being fed. Thank you in advance, Eric-

I'm sure others may pipe in here, but the general consensus seems to be that mangroves, while not deadly should still be treated as venomous snakes, and are not handleable pets.

You dont want to get bit...if one is going to bite you its not going to nip you..its gonna bite you. While they are not considered deadly because of their inefficient delivery system the venom is very toxic and if you were allergic you could be in some trouble.
Trying to hook a mang is like trying to hook a ice cube...they keep falling off.....hook and tail work very well
You'd be better off just looking at it.
Got any pics??
