Some more king pics

scottofhouston Apr 04, 2005 01:12 AM

Thought i'd add a few of my own pics from the last few weeks!
First a few holbrooki from along the texas gulf coast!
Heres a Brazoria County animal

and a few Galveston County animals

Heres a nice one from Bolivar island

Ventral Shot

And another one who wouldn’t uncoil for some photos

On the way out we flipped a Jefferson County animal with a brilliant orange venter like I had never seen before. But it seems that the cameras always stop working at the most inopportune times!
And a quick habitat shot

Heres a few from Harris County for the Calligaster fans

Enjoy

Really like the dark one with a spot on every scale and with the lighter belly.

Are those harder to find?

Thanks

I seem to find them with some regularity. Although the ones with the vague chain pattern seem more common. A full day of flipping along the coast should turn up several with specks in every scale like the dark one!

Love the variation of those speckled kings in your pics. It's one thing to see photos of our animals in their enclosures, but to see field pics is just wonderful. Thanks for the photos.

Thanks Craig. I have to agree there is nothing more exciting then seeing them in the wild. The best part is seeing the same ones every year!

Thanks. I wish I would have been able to photo the last one we found. It was very nice looking. Looking forward to seeing some Louisiana animals for a change!

Ouch! And to think I'm bustin' my hump for a Calhoun county locale! Those are awesome, Scott. I'm ONLY 300 miles away, hook me up! LOL! Thanks for the pics,
Todd
