they need special care make sure they are getting clean water every day and feed him/her everyday 2 times a day make sure to dust the veggies in multivitiamins and give him/her lots of calcium!!! They grow like weeds so make sure he/she always has a big enough cage.

Iguanas are very specialized creatures. They must have certain needs met or they will die. Iguana keeping is a big topic, so you should read:
http://www.greenigsociety.org/home.html
Your iguana's immediate needs are getting enough water, and getting the right heat gradient in his habitat. Plus he needs UVB lighting. See the ZOO-MED 5.0 BULBS, the most economical way to provide good UVB, at

If you become attracted to the self-ballasted, screw-in mercury vapor lamps, check out the MegaRay EB:

kit, but it is in no way necessary.
In the meantime, he's going through change-related stress, which will last for up to three weeks. Assuming his habitat is correct, he may pull out of change related stress within a week and start eating on his own. In other cases, the stress causes intestinal parasites to bloom, giving him a stomach ache, requiring a visit to a reptile vet. If he doesn't eat in 10 days, I'd take him in.

iguanas no matter the age require special care.. but for now make sure it stays well hydrated and fed RIGHT variety is the key. feed it many types of greens make sure it gets multi vitamins and calcium supplement. dont go over board on the calcium as it can cause problems just like not having any calcium.. make sure they cage is big enough for the iguana. i would always start bigger than you need. and when it is full grown expect to build a large cage..

Thanks Alot helpful info.As for its enclosure it is in a 30 gallon, with a mercury vapor bulb(zoomed powersun),the tank is decorated and it has thermometers.I feed it colllard greens etc with vitamins. Also i wanted to know if theirs a rule of when to start touching the iguana?
Thanks.
before you handle the igg you should make sure that it is comfortable with you in when you are in the smae room as it ie. not running all over the tank and not hiding. after you have gotten that far i like to get it used to my hand being in the cage and then gradually progress twords handling the igg.. it can take time but if you rush it now you will only end up with a very mean igg in the end..
