...and if so, could someone point me in the proper direction? I have only seen a couple advertised recently on ks.com and was wondering if anyone worked with them. Any feedback would be appreciate.
Thanks for your time,
Scott

...Thanks Rainer. I hoped to have several different localities and will have Virginia moles for sure. (just sold the last '04)
Maybe some Georgia locale and some red ones from my n. FL. X N Carolina lines. A pic of an offspring from that locale pairing is at the top of the "Prairie and Mole king" forums.
Some more pics at:
www.crimsonking.funtigo.com
as well.

I do not know much about these snakes but have seen a few cool pics. Which adults look best in your opinion? Tom Stevens
.... the redder North Carolina moles are most outstanding as adults..As a very general rule. I guess it depends on your likes too. As with any snake and locale, you cannot be too specific however. I have seen stunning animals from just about every state and there are hypo and hypo-ish animals out there as well.
Many individuals tend to kinda wash out and lose the contrast of the saddles against the ground color making them sort of unicolor. Some people really like this as well.
I have a GA male that has orange saddles barely visible against the overall green/tan backround.
Some of the NC X FL animals are very nice and bright throughout their lives.
There are very few mole kings in the hobby that are from north FL lines. Seems to be a shortage of males and I partnered up with someone to use his male last year. Unfortunately, I got zero fertile eggs and also lost a valuable female after she laid.'
This year I will use a red Pender co NC male with my FL female.
They are both red so I hope to get some nice babies from that pair.
I have seen very few animals from AL that held any color and end up as tannish brown/black adults. Not as appealing maybe but still cool animals.
I think my VA female is gravid now.

It may have been on Ted Thompson's site, but it was stated that the Virginia mole Kings are the largest. Is that true with your experience Mark? How do you like the Va. mole kings as far as contrast, color, and looks, compared to some of the other localities? Thanks in advance.
Steve
.... I really love my Va mole kings. They are every bit as easy as any calligaster to keep and breed. Meaning VERY easy! I put a pic or two here and there. Let me see which I have here.
Anyway, my adults are small.Maybe 30" or so. I think my largest may actually be my North FL female. Not sure.
I'll post pics of both here and a baby too.

..I just took. No set up and under flourescents so the shots are not that good but you get the idea.
Female mate to the VA male above: (going blue)
a juvenile GA mole(these have more "orangish" colors)
and a pair of red mole kings. The male is from Pender Co. NC and the female (more black on borders of saddles) is from north FL.
Sorry for crappy pics. I hate to disturb them this time of year

I like the look of the Va mole kings. Are they locality specific for a particular county in Virginia? Or just Va. locality? Also you mentioned that the mole kings were every bit as easy to raise & breed as the Prairie Kings. Were you talking about just the Va. mole kings, or all localities equally as hardy?
I also must say those Pender co. NC. mole kings are stunning. Thanks for the pictures Mark. Glad to see more people working with these guys. I just might have to add one to my collection in the near future.
Steve
... I really should add that some neonates are stubborn and want skinks or the like at first while prairies nearly always take pinks right away.
The VA moles I have are from Prince William County, VA.
:Mark
I have a pair of Madison co. moles that prduce each year.
Madison County, GA? Right?? There are a few Madison Counties in the south I think.
Pics??
:Mark
I have pairs from two different localities that have been breeding this week. hope to have hatchlings before Daytona show.
