Restless Mali long text

TSparks Apr 04, 2005 07:36 AM

Our female Mali has become restless lately.By that I mean she sleeps alot less. She used to be up for 3-4 hrs and that was it.Lately she stays up all day.Just going to different spots in the cage and laying around but never closing her eyes or going into one of the many hides she used to use.Last night she didnt go into a hide to sleep and she was up until after 11pm.The basking light goes off at 7 pm.She would be on one of the slates standing there with her eyes closed.A little later she would be on another one the same way.I tried to get her to go into a hide by putting her by the opening but she wouldnt. She finaly got under one anound 2am.She is still there now at 8:30 am.I can hear our Saharan thumping about right now.I have 3rd shift hrs so I know they dont get up during the night. She has been in the same cage with a Saharan male for the last 8-9 months. There have been zero signs of agression from either one. They were introduced to the cage at the same time. The cages sides are covered to cut down on dancing. There have been several attemps by the Saharan to mate. But she is not interested. There both eating good. When she is out of the cage she explores just like she always does. There basking spot is 135 the cool end is 82-84.At night it gets down into the low 70's.She weighs 200 gr and he weighs 190g as of there last vet visit.

Could this just be because it's spring? We didnt get her until after last spring.I can provide pics of them and the cage if this will help. Thanks

Hey Slick, if one uro is trying to mate the other...there is stress. Stress eventually leads to health problems...
