its illegal to sell venimous reptiles of any kind,

Pretty ridiculous.

Kinda like a County nearby that wanted to ban dart frogs because they had evidence of their dangerousness, only to be corrected as to the source of their sequestered toxins. I'd say the pet store got JIPPED.

There are way too many pinheads making laws about things in which they have no clue. Hognose venom as about as inoccuous as bee sting venom. There is a problem when our law makers cannot make distinctions between the "supposed" dangers of hognose venom vs. Elapid venom, or other truly venomous critters.

what petstore? I live in the area and look at all the petshops all the time. Lucky you, wish I was at the petstore at that time if you want to get rid of those awful hot snakes let me know I have room.

They got completely screwed. Hognosed, like virtually all other 'colubrids' except the ones that have undergone a recent secondary loss, are venomous but this is from a technical perspective, not from a practical perspective. The intent of the legislation (assuming they gave it any thought, unlikely as they are politicians) would have been for medically important elapids or viperids, not for trivial things like hognosed.

Who was it that did the inspection and what is their evidence based justification for including hognosed?

Cheers
Bryan
