Breeding E. carinata

Katt Apr 04, 2005 07:01 PM

Just wondering if anyone has tips on breeding king rats? My pair has been cooled for three months at around 55F. They have been out three weeks, but have not gone blue. Female is not eating, male is. Should I wait til after they shed to introduce them?

Anything particular to get them going? Thank you!

Even though as a general rule I usually don't introduce them untill after shed, I've had females that don't go into shed after brumation untill about halfway through the summer, after they were bred and laid a full viable clutch. Now, this has been with NA rats and easern hognose, but I'd wouldn't say that she isn't receptive, but I'd make sure she's eating before trying anything though.
