It's starting to get warm here in Dallas. My snake tank is 90 degrees. I got a 50 watt bulb and it is still 90. I have seen it should be in the low 80's. What should I do.

Remove the bulb and see how that does.

What are your ROOM temps like? And how big is your cage? Once the room temp hits 80, I would turn off all extra heat sources, especially if your tank is small. Frankly, a constant temp of 75 is probably better than a constant temp of 90. If the tank is too small for an actual gradient, then be careful of those high temps if your snake can't find a cool spot. Duffy

My room temps are upper 70's. My tank is a 20gal long. He stays under his water bowl to stay cool. The temps seem to be fine as long as the light is off. But I read they need 8-12 hours of light a day. And the buld is just to hot. Maybe I will make a bracket and lift the light off the cage alittle.

If you want light why not use a flourescent bulb. They have those screw in flourscent bulbs used in incandescent sockets or buy a small flourscent fixture.
Watch the heat because like duffy said to hot is lethal a bit to cool (which isnt your situation anyway)isnt lethal.
