My snake bit itself.

My ball struck at itself when i was feeding it today. It kind of freaked me out. Do i have a reason to be worried or has anyone else seen something like this before?

I've had ball pythons actually stike at a prey, miss it,
bit themselves, and start wrapping itself up! Rare, but
it happens. Check for bleeding or open wounds and treat
accordingly. Probably not a bit deal.
Good luck,
Chris Simone

Last week I put a small mouse in with a large female while I was feeding some of my smaller balls. I didn't even think she would waste her time, but I heard a thump, turned around to look only to see her trying to coil around the half of the mouse that wasn't already in her mouth. After about 3 minutes of her try to put a wrap on the tiny little thing, she decided to just eat it alive...only it had died about 2 minutes before while she was try to wrap it.

It was pretty funny to watch a 1600 gram female try to wrap a 15 gram mouse...not really related to the subject other than, somtimes they do weird things while eating.
