does belly up mean definitely gravid?

gothpython Apr 04, 2005 10:06 PM

or do some females do this at random times? i've had my two girls lay belly up but i can't feel any eggs inside of them. so i was wondering if them laying belly up is a definite sign of them being gravid. thanks in advance for your replies.

I have snakes lay belly up after a big meal. Also I see females do it sometimes during breeding season when they are nowhere near ready to lay. Some of these girls eventually lay and some don't. Good luck!

I used to have a great picture example of one of my large ball
pythons laying inverted...and it was a MALE!
However, with females, that have been breeding, it is a sign
pointing in the right direction.
Best of luck!
