Is there a substrate that bp's prefer to lay eggs on

I saw in the PYTHON forum that a guy said he tried 3 different substrates and finally the last one worked for his stimson python to lay her eggs i have tried cypress mulch,aspen bedding with a lay box (vermiculite & perlite) any suggestions

I've been using shredded aspen from day one. I don't think ball pythons are too fussy about where they lay there eggs. Newspaper, cypress etc. I think heat is more of a factor than anything. I also don't add any additional humidity by moistening my substrate. The eggs are removed as soon as the female is finished.
