Hibernation, ovulation & again Miami.

ohannah Apr 05, 2005 05:15 AM

Hi!

I was thinking, what happens if one misses a female corn’s post hibernation ovulation and introduces a male too late?? Also, how do corn snakes breed without hibernation at all, how does one know when to place them together?

P.S. No one breeds Miami corns here? No ideas on their breeding sizes?? If they are known to be smaller, what would be suitable weight & length to breed Miami female? Anyone??

.......bree them from Mrch on till you get eggs.and you will be ok.....

I do not brumate.....

I have been breeding since mid-February........

alot of mine are gravid already I think but I do not know how far along......

even with a heater running all year and the same light period all year..they know it's summer or winter.they just know.............

I fed all winter.........and in February to March they create follicles and I haven't really "upped" the food intake at all on females and more or less I have stopped trying to feed males at all...........

this way I don't worry about "fattening " them up after brumation and I don't have to worry about waiting till they feel like creating follicles a month or so after brumation.they usually have already started early........all on their own......while feeding well.......

.......confused more?..........LOL....

miami?.maybe they get smaller?...mine are all about the same size here,,......miami het candies and candycanes and all the other morphs.........

caramels and ambers did get a little longer and thicker.butters too...........hypo emoryi crosses stayed a little smaller....and are mean.........okeetees got bigger from Phil Black line and stayed smaller so far from wild stock "Haphazard Road" ones.......
