A little off topic

Hi I have to make a trip into london for work today so i am goin to pick up some butterworm and superworms for Neil(veieled).I have been recently thinking about purchasing either a tarantula or a scorpion. I was just wondering which one everyone else thought was the better of the two? Which one is more active? which one can take out bigger prey? and which one is just the better overall pet? For some reason right now I am stuck on the green bottle blue tarantula or an emperor scorpion. Does anyone have any other species favs? Thanks again

I believe both are nocturnal. But I have always been fascinated by scorpions. I met a exotic breeder once that bred scorpions and he had a picture of the mom with the babies...they carry them on their back and they were completely white. I think it had over a dozen. Really interesting. I believe he fed them gutloaded insects but it could take down a small pinky too. Let me know which one you pick!

I have 2 tarantulas - Natasha is a goliath birdeaterLasiodora parahybana and my little no name is a 7 or 8 year old Chilean Rose Hair. I recently adopted them from someone who couldn't care for them. I also had Rose, my pinktoe Avicularia avicularia. I don't handle Tasha as she simply will not tolerate it, but I do sometimes handle "no name", a much more docile species. Rose was great but very fast so I usually let her be (too many places she could have scooted to).
The ones I have now are earht dwellers/burrowers but the avic was arboreal and needed a more humid enclosure.

A great forum to help you make a decision is the ATS (American Tarantula Society) at yahoo. Many T keepers also keep scorpions and there are VERY knowledgeable folks there. Stanley Schultz, who literally wrote the book on keeping tarantulas, is a frequent poster.

Good luck!
