Size Differences

caietaro Apr 05, 2005 11:21 AM

I currently have a juvinile Arg BW tegu thats about 10-12" snout to vent and about 30" total length. I would love to get a blue tegu as well, but the thing is is that Sobek, my Arg is free-roam in my bedroom and the blue tegu would have the same privleages. My question is though, would the size difference between my Arg and a baby blue tegu be too much? How big would the blue tegu have to get before I could let him free-roam with Sobek?

Thanks so much,
Caietaro

I'd say let your baby blue get at least to 3/4 the size of the tegu to be on the safe side. Of course, both your blue & your B&W are going to both be growing, but hopefully the baby will grow faster so you can put them together.

My Tegu is just about the same size as yours, and he is buddies with a black throat monitor that was a little smaller in length and probably 1/2 the weight of my tegu- and they LOVE eachother. Since, the Black throat has grown and they are now the same length, but I had NO problems, not even when they were first introduced.

good luck with your blue & B&W, i hope your B&W is as mellow as mine and enjoys his friend.
