wierd question...

fallenaanjul Jul 10, 2003 12:24 AM

about shedding.
Has anyone else noticed a significant colour change where their iguana sheds?
Edgar is shedding(AGAIN) but I've noticed his previous sheds were a patch of totally different colour underneath than the colour of the scales being shed. Instead of being a muted blue/green, he is bright orange in patches all over his body.
Is there any reason for concern, or perhaps, am I not doing something right?
It's really getting strange to look at him...one side is a beautiful, muted blue/green, tha other side of him looks as orange as breeding season. It's wierd...maybe a serious sign of stress??????????????
I dunno, thanks for hearing me out!

Tempest sheds one side of his body, then the other, if you want wierd :P His head usually sheds twice as often as the rest of him too. I've noticed when I'm bathing him, he often goes orange on his legs in patches, and in a couple of patches on his body too. I don't know if its the same sort of thing, but its when he's getting peeved that this happens. I have yet to go through a full blown orange ig mating season, tho I expect this fall will be his first!

male iguanas turn orange when they go into season. This can be spotted or even just on one side. If you are unsure PLEASE take it to the vet or call and ask what it could be
