Gutloading Butterworms

is it alright to gutload butterworms with oatmeal i through some in witht he 15 i bought today and they started eating it right up so is there anything better to use or is this alright?

Although they may seem to be eating it they are probably just burrowing in it. Butterworms feed solely on a plant from Chile.

I have been able to keep butterworms for many, many months in the sawdust they are packed in and keeping them in a fridge. The larvae burrow at this stage so the sawdust serves that purpose. The fridge keeps them somewhat dormant so they will "keep." They do lose their nutrient supply with time but you can just look for the plump ones.

A suggestion for serving to a cham. Warm them up first (the butterworms so they move around. I put one or two on a wooden spoon, hold them under the basking light until they squirm and then Luna will "see and eat" them
