chad98 Jul 10, 2003 12:30 AM

Is there anywhere in Canada to get Painted Turtles? Thanks.

Actually my first turtle was from Canada. My best friends boyfriend cought her a painted hatchling turtle at his grandmothers quary in Canada. He lived in Buffalo and she lived across the boarder. Of course my best friend did not know how to take care of it so she gave him to me after a few months and after she saw how much work there was in caring for him she told me I could keep him because I could give him a better life. Anyway, right across the NY, Canada border is where he was found. I don't know if they are farther North or West in Canada.

I think it's illegal to capture any native turtle species in Canada. I could be wrong, but you really should check it out before you go looking. In any case, most turtles in Canada are endangered, so I wouldn't go depleting wild stocks any more than they already are.
