HELP!! With blackhead python eggs!!!!!!

prosteven Apr 05, 2005 04:47 PM

My two adult females recently dropped eggs, I've been incubating them at 85.5f, it's been about two weeks since they laid but most of the eggs from cluth # 1 look like if they have gone bad and now two from the second one have the same signs.
They seem to have transparent spots which get bigger, look humid and then grow mold and shink.

They are being incubated in perlite.
If anybody has any info please reply ASAP, It's my first year breeding blackheads.

Thanks in advance.

First thing you need to do is get your temps up a couple degrees(87-88 f.). Second you do not want them sitting on moist substrate. For safe measure you can add a couple of inches of substrate straight from the bag, or you could raise them up with a grid or something similar.

Good Luck,

Thanks for the info..

I removed the eggs and added 2 inc of perlite and put the eggs on top.
My question now is where do the eggs get the moisture they need from???
Do you put water in a container on the incubator? or moss in top of the eggs??

Thanks for the help.

If you had enough moisture in the bottom layer you should be ok. With aspidites it's better to be a little dry then a little wet. If you notice the eggs denting, you can add water. Just don't add it directly around the eggs.
