Who here is in Pennsylvania?

ChrisGilbert Apr 05, 2005 06:23 PM

With more states starting legislation against reptiles we need to act before somthing is brought up. I am 16 a Junior at Upper St. Clair High School, Pittsburgh South Hills. Congressman Tim Murphy is a resident of my township and attends all school functions, his daughter is a Senor. I have been working with my Biology teacher to get an article in the township's magazine. From there doing talks at the schools. I am looking for everyone in PA to help out if they can!

Thanks,
Christopher

Hi Chris,

I live near McKeesport, PA and my profession is that of a police sergeant. I have 39 constrictors including retics and anacondas along with monitor lizards. I certainly do not want to see legislation restricting reptile ownership in PA!!!

Well we should certainly work on preventative action, education is the key to sucess. My dad is a State Trooper, he is more of a Ball Python guy, asks me all the questions, lol.

I'm from Philly but living in Altoona, unfortunately. Oh the differences between Eastern and Western PA. I love PA's laws and want them to stay the way they are. If we ever faced any of the possibility those stupid laws going into effect, I'd do anything I could to help. Ryan.

For now the laws in Pennsylvania seem stable and show no reason to change, even after the alleged suffocation of a girl in Washington County by an improperly kept Burmese Python. I also think that lawmakers realize most people are able to make responsible choices, and that most exotic pets are not dangerous, or as much as publically portrayed through misconception. Right now PA requires license for Big cats, Bears, and Wolves, they also require all domestics to be licensed. I personally do not have a problem with this. With positive action, and education I think we will be fine. Better to be preventative than try to solve a problem once it is arrisen. Besides isn't this the same principle used in our care of our animals!

Upper Saint Clair. I went out there to visit for Christmas wearing a NE Patriots sweatshirt and went to a Steelers bar. Good thing it was before we beat them in the playoffs...AGAIN lol. They were a really great team this year and look like a force to be reckoned with in the future. Oh yeah, back to snake talk live. I hope NH doesn't even think of legislation like some other states are. The trouble is sometimes bills are put forth very quietly so everyone has to keep their eyes open.

Talk about a small world. What is your name again, aside from boidmorphs? Did you go to school here, there are still a few of the old teachers left at the high school?

Next time your in town send me an email and we can talk snakes, lol. You should come back to do a talk for the community. Depending how things go, I may set up something for community day.
