Reduced Pattern Project.....eggs laid today (pictures)

JP Apr 05, 2005 08:47 PM

Well, this little project has been a long time in the making. This female was CH2002, and I raised her from a pup. I found her mate (CH2003) a year later from the same source. Both are nearly identical, with a reduced dark pattern, clear white belly, and a velvety/canvas appearance. The male was also bred to a more typical normal female (due any day). I should know soon whether this trait is inheritable....I can't image its not.

Getting mom off revealed 4 long and skinny but fertile eggs...

I'll post a picture of the breeding and ovulation in another post below. I am so looking forward to the first of June!

I think the coolest part of this whole deal is I got this female as a 100 gram hatchling, and now she's having babies of her own. We ended up not breeding any of our 2003 female hatchlings this year, so next year will be our first breeding of a female that we hatched ourselves. That'll be a fun time too!

Here is the breeding and ovulation pics I promised.....

Thanks for looking and enduring my little celebration. Let me know what you think!
