my gecko is a year old now, and i ahve had since he was about a month old. During this time i ahve not seen him change colour once. i was told that over time they will change colour an lose the stripes on his back and get lighter skin colour. But the stripes ares till there and his skin is a very dark yellow. What is wrong with him?

Is he getting bigger in weight and in size?

yes he is bigger but not as big as i have seen other 1 yr old geckos

Yes this is true for not only u but many people. Mine isnt aslarge as other peoples leos either. But yet they are like children all grow at diffrent rates and age if that makes since.

i dunno if this is too farfetched an idea but chinese leopard geckos keep there striped and dont spot right?

Honestly I think that if your leo is gaining weight and increasing in size that you should have nothing to worry about. Aslong as they shed (we may not see it all the time, but if s/he is getting bigger that means that it is shedding), then you should have nothing to worry about. Usually the light purple bans turn to dots as they get older. My male was spotted a little with high yellow bans and some purple bans and as he gets older the only color really i notice is the purple fading just a tade and turning into dots, some do do this and others dont. Dont stress until it loses weight or stops growing, if its a year old it should be about grown completely. How big is it length and weight. dont stress to much ok

he is a little over 7 inches. and the weight im not sure he look skinny so i dun know

i would suggest for u to buy a scale u can get one on ebay for like 40 bucks. Any weight in the tail? what is it eating?

the tail is a good size but not fat, he east meal worms and crickets

but how much. you might also try to feed your leo butterworms. Those are a great way to fatten your leo up. Is it male or female?

its a male. i feed him more crickets than i do meal worms he east about 4 times a week. with the meal worms i will keep feeding him till he doesnt want any more. but the crickest i will only give him about 8 to 10.

hmm.. sounds everything is ok. Make sure the temp is right in his cage. Day temps about 87-90 on warm end room temp on cool end and 75-79 at night. Make sure humid hide is put on the warm side too. hope that helps
