Is your Tegu as slow as mine?

CornSnakeBabe Apr 05, 2005 11:18 PM

Are all tegus slow? i mean, mine is REALLY lazy, but i want to make sure he is healthy. He comes out as much as possible to play, is in a large enclosure, and is a very good swimmer. he only moves quick for oh, maybe 3 seconds at a time, but rarely.

is this normal?

I'm afraid its normal, my two males are the same. Only in early spring they wander around in the house a lot, probably looking for females. After a few weeks they give up and then for the rest of the year their only activity is eating, walking to their sunspot, walking to the balcony to poop and crawling into their hide.
But I love them!
Sometimes I take them outside and then they like to wander around and flick their tongue at everything. I think their slowness also is a result of the fact that in their cage nothing happens, nothing changes. So you have to stimulate them now and then. I think the best way is to take them outside.
