Help with eggs...

amazinglyricist Apr 06, 2005 12:16 PM

Ok, I've had a pair of eggs in the incubator for about 2 months now, they've shown no signs of molding, and they're not drying out. But a couple days ago they both developed a small dip on the left side, it's about the length and width of the egg , and only 1-2mm indented. Are these still viable eggs, or no? And is this a normal thing with eggs?

I've got 5 more eggs in the incubator, and they're fine so far, but they've only been in anywhere from 1 month to a week and a half. And I have more eggs on the way.

What temp are you incubating them at? Usually when temps are in the low 80s the incubation time will be around two months. If they are fertile, the denting in is a sign that they are going to hatch really soon (as long as they are not dried up or moldy or anything like that). Some of mine get sunken in the day they hatch and some a few days earlier. I hope this helps.

Good Luck!

Thanks, I hope you're right about them hatching soon. They've been in the low to mid 80's range the whole time.

If they do hatch this will be the first time I've managed to hatch any reptile eggs. I've had various complications with incubating them, and I hope I've got it right now.
