Ribbon snakes eating too much?

PaulWoz Jul 10, 2003 02:19 AM

Is it possible for a ribbon snake to eat too much? How much, on average, should one eat? I was thinking of feeding it primarily feeder fish (minnows) and crickets. Any suggestions on the amount or type of food fed to a small ribbon snake would be greatly appreciated. thanks

no . . . I would offer 6-8 fish at a time to start with at least every other day. If he eats them all, offer more. They won't eat themselves to death. They do eat a lot and often and are highly strung animals. I'm not sure about the crickets though . . . I've never fed them to my garters. They'll also eat tadpoles and small frogs and worms.
