found a garter snake

hey, ive come across a garter snake in my backyard....i catch em all teh time in the parks near my house but this one is in my yard far far away from them. im familiar with the care of snakes im just not sure if it would be possible to keep it with it being wild and all.....would it take to feeding in a tank, and what should i feed it>? i see them eating fish in the parks...if your wondering its a western plains. any advice would be great THANX

it depends on how big it is whether you could get it to eat for you in captivity . . . they are voracious eaters usually and eat fish, worms, and frogs . . . some will take pinkies. They are highly active snakes as well so if you keep him, give him as big an enclosure as you can.
