Rubbers from mid march..

jeph Apr 06, 2005 03:46 PM

Hi,
Heres some pics of some southern rubber boas I saw back in mid-march-(San Bernardino mtns, snow still on the ground that day too, temps mid 60's I'd say). This is how these 2 were when I lifted the rock.I took them out and got a couple pics of them, then went to put them back under the rock and lifted it again and there was another one, this was within 5 minutes or so.I saw 6 of them, and was there for a little over an hour that day.I've found them under the same rock for years now, except last year I didnt go to that spot at all-(forest was closed due to fire safety)but its nice going there and seeing them everytime.Enjoy the pics..

This was another male.He was under a flat rock straight on top of the ground. As soon as I lifted it I went to take his pic but he had already started to make the move, but I was able to get this one insitu shot before he went farther.I grabbed him,put the rock back down and let him go back under it.Thats the best.

Jeff, cool stuff.

Hope to be able to make it out there some day and do some boa hunting. I'm going to my brother's in Idaho this summer, and maybe I'll see my first then. Later...
