GOOD NEWS THE BIG FELLOW ATE!!!

herpsaremylife Apr 06, 2005 06:00 PM

right in front of me. their food dish is full of nasturtium leaves amonst nasturtium flowers and danylion leafs/flowers. he was basking, and they both have pooped, the thermometer which they knock off the basking spots and under neath them is registering 90F so im guessing the basking spots are around 100, i opened the cage to drop in some more nasturtium flowers in front of him, and it was odd; he looked up at me, ran over to the food dish, and chomped down a leaf... its so exiting!

it always seems to fad away after the first couple of times though, oh well. im also fairly sure the little guy ate, but didn't see her do it. I went back in after typing the last message and she was sitting pretty in the middle of the rubble... meaning the thrashed flowers of nasturtium i had dropped in there, but i gotta see her eat to start breathing again, lol...

what did Tom Greb mean when he said its hard to acclimate the male chucks? im not trying to show him up or ANYTHING, but was he talking about getting them to eat, to sunbath, to tame...? i dont remember if he really specified. i just want to know if i still have a barrier to break with the big dude( i named him philbert)

We'll all know in a few months if you've been successful.

Long term health and the ability to maintain it is successful acclimation.

Watch for parasites that might creep up if the immune system becomes compromised. Watch for depression, intimidation, and fighting if the male decides that there is only room for him.

They could still, one or both, become depressed and go on a hunger strike.

depression would be shown by lack of interest in baking i would assume? dont worry, ive treated parasites on birds and reptiles alike, so i am fairly trained on that subject. thanks, nick.
