Burmese snake in a rack

kylescott Apr 06, 2005 07:27 PM

I have many snakes, mostly ball pythons that I keep in my racks. I am interested in buying a male albino burm to house in my rack. I was wondering if a 32 qt tub is to small for a 2 1/2 ft burm. I will buy a much large cage (2x2x4ft), but for the moment this is all I have. When I have a bigger place 4 or 5 months from now, I can get a bigger cage. Do you think this would be ok?

I suppose it'll work in a pinch, but build fast cause they grow fast. I have a young female that was 41 inches when I got her in December. She's about 58 inches now. You should probably build the one it will be spendin' the rest of it's life in now. You can put several appropriately sized hides in that for it to use. That will help as far as making it feel more secure in such a large enclosure. Hope this helps.

I would just wait until you can start out with a good cage. If you situation on getting a bigger cage is "iffy", then just wait. Because there is no if about it that the burm is going to need it.
