Herping Softwares for Palm OS PDAs

DeZ Jul 10, 2003 06:02 AM

Hi ya all,
I'm wondering if any of ya have any idea if there is a herping software for Palm OS PDAs. I'm currently using the Palm Zire 71 and I've 2.3 green treefrogs, 1.2 Emperor newts and 0.1 tiger salamanders. I'm thinking of gathering some local frogs to see what species are found where, basically sorta a private research/documentations.

As such the software shld be able to store datas of the animals like size, gender, location and prefably able to attach a picture to it. If any of ya have any idea where there is such a software pls email me, thanks. =)

I know of a program that allows you to input quite a lot of the data you're talking about as well as attaching photos. However, I don't know if you could install it on a Palm - in fact probably not as I guess most Palm-type computers require software written specifically for that type of hardware. However if you're interested it's called MSA Herp and is written by a company called Lavasoft based out of Australia. It's one of the best programs I've seen and I've tried a few of the them. Currently I'm using it on my PC to document basic stuff on my own collection of animals and I'm also playing around with it at the zoo I work at, using some of the data we collect on the species we house. The program has a few drawbacks but is otherwise a fairly decent program. I think the full version costs about $29 or so.
