orange spots and bars

moko Apr 07, 2005 07:49 AM

My female has always had some orange around her collar, but now she seems to be developing orange spots down her sides and more orange around the neck. i had read that this indicates a gravid female, but Mizzy has been a widow since last October. She is an aqua flame. Is this just normal coloring for her or perhaps an indication that she would be ready to mate if she had a mate?

even if a boy isn't there they can still turn gravid, which means they have eggs in them that are ready to go. if she does not mate, she could reabsorb them or she could actually lay the infertile ones, so be prepared for both. i think she is telling you she is sick of being a widow, ha ha.
