I know it's not record-breaking news or anything but I must admit to being very pleased. I didn't bother to brumate any of my kingsnakes this year knowing my family was moving out of state sometime this spring. Well, the only cooling my snakes have had was in the U-haul on the way from NY state to here (Southern MO), and even that wasn't as low as they should have been or near long enough in most people's books.
Despite this my males have been acting quite randy, and 2 of my females had shed JUST before the move about 2 weeks ago now. So after a good feeding yesterday afternoon I decided to throw my males in with the girls just to see what would happen last night. My one older male wasn't interested in any of them even though my main female seemed receptive, so I tried my back-up male, and I'll be damned if those 2 didn't hook-up for over NINE HOURS!! That's a record for my snakes...maybe I should try it this way more often!

I'm going to try him with the other 2 females within the next few days, I think the poor bugger needs a bit of rest after that un-expected marathon though, lol!

Won't be anything spectacular I'm afraid, probably just some nice aberrants. She's a chocolate & off-white banded 50/50, and he's a chocolate bodied pale-yellow striped, nice solid thin stripe through to the tail though. So fingers crossed that she'll take for me as I wasn't expecting any at all this year
