Baby melanistics

TomDickinson Apr 07, 2005 04:27 PM

Today I got 11 healthy baby mels.I was very suprised at this. She just passed a slug about a month ago that was stuck in her for 9 months.I was giving her the year off but she impregnated herself. The other weird thing about this is all of the babies were melanistic. She was with a het two years ago.I dont know what the odds are.But I would think there would be some normals in there somewhere.
I am glad she made it though it.I did not think she was going to survive let alone produce again woth that slug in her for so long.

Tom,

Congrats on your litter! Unless you had accidently slipped a male in w/ her at some point, she must have retained the sperm from a previous male encounter. Very strange, glad it worked out well for you.

I had sold her to A.C. for a couple of weeks. He discovered the lodged slug.So I refunded him.Apparently ,He had her in with his male melanistic. As soon as I got her back I brumated her.
Website looks good.I like how you put your reptiles article in there.

Been working on getting the article up on the site for quite some time and it was just finished up. Good luck with your baby mels.
