YEA!!! Does it seem that she is digging one hole or just digging around? If she is intent on one place that is good!! As much as you want to peek give her all her privacy. It will take several hours to dig, lay and bury. Even when I know Luna is done (yes, you have to peek carefully) I keep her cage covered until she is up in her branches.

She will be covered with substrate and very hungry! So have some well-gutloaded munchies on hand for her! Keep the calcium up as her body has used much of what is available. I continue with the NCg for a week or so after.

Keep us posted and I hope it all works out OK!

btw, glad you posted here..sort of neglected the subforums as I got my new beardie today and have been getting ready

as of hour 1 she has dug 2.5 holes, i have a "watching station" where she cannot see me. should i spray her down when she is done? or wait to hydrate her tomorrow??? crickets are always loading and in their pen waiting to be shipped out into hers , should i go repcal with 35-40% calcium only, or reptivite with only 21% but also has other vitamins, minerals, and electolytes?

If she keeps digging trial holes you may need to reassess the setup. If the substrate isn't right (moist and holding a tunnel) or the depth, she may reject it - this could cause real problems, but the fact that she is trying, well let's hope she finally settles on one! Luna has never dug trial holes and totally ignores the tub until the minute she is ready, whereas others speak of other habits. John, from Cham Paradise posted a pic of a female that laid in a very potbound plants. He had to cut away the side to get the eggs out! So it is a very personal (cham) thing!

As for water/cleaning. i have to say, I am always a but amazed at how clean Luna get herself! not quite sure how unless she just rubs a lot on her way back up to bask. Depending on your cham, you may want to shower her a couple days after (if she is OK with it) to help with hydration. She will be OK for the time so don't bother with water. I find that Luna is a bit pissy for the first 12-24 hours after she's done - can't really blame her.

I would lightly dust (don't over do it) with the rep-cal Ca/D3 and gutload your feeders with high calcium foods, like Kale as well as other high quality fruits, veggies and dry gutload. Did you say you had gotten silkies? I fed her almost exclusively silkies for as long as she would take them (she gets very picky!)

Here is a great site for high calcium foods. It is color coded for easy reference.

hour 2 consisted of digging out that 3rd hole more and i believe she is filling in hole 2 not really sure, 75% of the time she was at hole #3. I have crix, wax worms, and meal worms as feeders right now, i'm looking into roaches as a cricket alternate, and also the silkies.

yeah, let her just hang out. If, however, you check in the morning and she has not moved I would consider a vet or rethinking the setup, but for now let her go at her own pace.

yeah thats what i figured, i remoistened the sand, i dont think it was quite right today, i think it will hold up better tomorrow, and she will have more time. What an awesome feeling this was though! She sure did scare me by not moving at the end, i think she was just tired from all the digging, and then approaching her bedtime etc.. she did turn and come out of the hole before bedtime so i know she is OK. thanks for "being" here with me lele

is she still sitting in the tub or did she go to branches? Either way, if she is still you could try dripping some water on her snout to see if you can keep her hydrated. Don't mist as it may startle her. of course do this once she is warmed up.
