Just wanted to thank everyone for helping me gain so much knowledge of monitors in such a small ammount of time, for example, I have a few monitors right now, a blackthroat, and two savannahs, and my new baby water monitor, they were all given to me as adults so they were fairly tolerant of human interaction, but the water I bought as a baby and he is out of this world skiddish. Before I was taught that tong feeding was wrong and that food should be tossed into the cage, but recently I was told that hand and tong feeding with increase trust in your monitor, After two weeks of nothing but tong feeding, my water has drastically calmed down allowing me to stroke his back and under his chin, without even hissing.
Alot of people in here get offended way to easily, I should know. About 8 months ago I freaked out on this forum about a sick nile monitor, I figured he enjoyed being handled, then he died. But everyone on this forum told me that it was sick and shouldnt be held, I was just to cocky and thought that I knew it all. Well after that, I learned that I dont know all that much about monitors and I should not give advice or argue with advice coming from people like frank and others, when you ask for advice take it or leave it but dont argue it. sorry to ramble on and on and on
thanks again
