I was right.....Beanie laid a 6th clutch this morning!!! >>>>>

I thought that three to four clutches was average and a fifth was unexpected but not too unusual but a 6th??? I am only praying that this was her final clutch....I can't deal with seeing her like this anymore. When I bred Beanie to Pheonix I thought she was going to be in some stress for a while but not this long!!! Poor thing!!! Has anyone else's geckos laid a 6th clutch this season??? If so, how common is it???

My female laid a 6th clutch too. I dont think it is that uncommon as they can lay up 10 or so clutches. Congrats on your new eggs!! Hope those eggs hatch for you soon...

I know what you mean, I've been waiting forever for my Aurora to finish laying, but she just layed her since clutch a week ago, and is showing signs of developing eggs in her already! When I got bought her, i wasnt aware that she was gravid, but the funny thing is shes gained weight since i got her. She was 60 grams when i got her, and shes now 75, hasnt really stopped eating that much before laying. I wouldnt be suprised if she lays again, it isnt uncommon for them to lay up to 10 clutches in their prime. Good luck

I heard that it was kinda unhealthy if they lay more then 8 clutches is that true?

ZeR0 Jul 10, 2003 09:39 PM

Not at all if you keep extra care of them. The only thing that is unhealthy is they lose some weight, and its pretty stressful on them. Aslong as they start out with a fat tail and are given all they want to eat, theres nothing unhealthy about it in my opinion. Infact, 8 clutches is probably a sign of a strong bloodline, not sure on that though. later
