Well, generally, you can get the eye cap wet, let it sit a couple minutes and remove it. Sometimes you can put a piece of scotch tape on the eye and pull it back off, which will remove the eye cap. To result in bleeding sounds odd. Also, soaking a lot could be a sign of mites. Was the eye/surrounding area bleeding, or was it blood from mites you may have been smashing around the eye? Mites do like to hang out there! I would seriously monitor your humidity levels and do a thorough search for mites. You can look at your substrate(newspaper/paper towels reveal mites pretty quickly), you can look for mite "waste" on the snake, look to see them moving around(use a flashlight at night and that usually yields better results), run a white cloth or your hand down the snakes body and see if you pull some mites. Also, look in the water it's soaking in, you'll more than likely have some floaters. You could very well not have any mites, but I'd do some serious looking given the described situation. Just to be sure...you are speaking about a Dumerils boa correct? Keep us posted, take care!
