The other day one of my gophers acted like it was dead when I went to handle it. I am assuming it felt threatened and did it as a defense. I've never heard of gophers doing this , is this a common thing?

I had one that did that just before he died. It had hit the glass hard enough it injured it's neck. Mine died the next day.
I am interested in what others have to say about your snake. Hognoses are known for playing dead. I think coachwhips may do it too. I hope yours is OK.

He ate about five minutes after playing dead. And only played dead when I went to pick him up.
