I have recently acquired an ultrasound machine and have been using it to monitor follicle development in my ball pythons this season.
I would love to correspond others who are using this technology with balls to compare notes. I haven't found alot of available information out there on using ultrasound in reptiles so this has been a learning process, but I have already learned a lot.
Being able to scan a female and actually count follicles and watch them grow and develop into eggs is DA BOMB!! Certainly helps to correctly identify females with enough good follicles to make breeding worthwhile, and those that should be put on the shelf. It also allows much more productive use of males as you don't have to waste time and your male breeding females with follicles that aren't well enough developed.
Hope to hear from some of you.
