Hey Paul!!! or any1 that has experience with fluvals.

chong188 Jul 10, 2003 09:15 AM

i noticed in your old cage pics that you have a fluval filter.(it might be something else it looked like a fluval to me). anyways heres my question im going to be making a new cage (6x5x3) for saturn and tethys when i intruduce tethys hopefully at the end of summer. anyways back to the fluval ive always wanted to make a waterfall is it possible with fluvals that you could run the hose that brings the clean water back into the cage up to a water fall and let the water trickle down back into the water container.

Thanks

The only thing that is preventing me from trying that with my fluvals, is that the canister part of the filter must be below the water line. This means that my dragon's water area would have to be raised off of the floor.

the water container is going to be raised off the floor 1 foot on a false floor. would this work.

Depends on which fluval you are getting. Mine is the 204 and the canister is over a foot tall. Add the depth of the container and it might work.

yes it will work as long as the filter is below water level (the top of the water level). Only thing is- the higher it has to push the water up the less power so depending on how much water flow you want you might want to bump up a size (depends on your pond size etc)

If you notice the pics of my old cage, it used to be on casters directly on the floor but now it's on a stand. And chong you are right, mine is a fluval, a 304. This model pushes 180GPH. If I were to do it over I would buy the 404 for only about $20 bucks more. But either model is powerful enough to lift the water for a waterfall.
hope this helps,
Paul
